“You’ve seen right through me…”
That’s what I felt after an intervention by one of the teachers in the training I’m currently following.
Telling stories, choosing eloquent words, weaving meaning — they’re well-trained skills of mine. But also protective mechanisms. Patterns I developed to avoid touching pain. And they served me well. I even built a 20-year business around them, specializing in storytelling & imagination.
But now, I’m being invited to look deeper.
To feel. To stop bypassing the discomfort.
To face the pain and move through it.
The fear of being seen
In one of the exercises, I touched a core fear:
The fear of being unmasked.
What if all those masks fall away?
The ones that helped me stay upright.
That supported my image. That gave me direction, confidence and even identity.
What remains when they’re gone?
Who is hiding behind those masks?
Who am I, underneath it all?
The fear of the unknown washed over me.
And yet, in the same breath, so did a deep longing.
To simply be who I truly am.
Remembering who you are
My buddy offered a gentle but powerful suggestion:
"Go back to when you were three or four years old. What did you feel?"
I didn’t have to think long.
I felt free. Joyful. Playful.
Building castles in the sandbox, inviting friends into bold dreams.
Laughing. Crying. Full of wonder. Unfiltered. Unmasked.
And it struck me.
That version of me is still here.
And I believe that’s true for all of us.
Our most authentic self never left.
It just got layered. Protected. Hidden.
Why we build walls
As we grow up, we start building walls.
We develop coping strategies to feel safe, accepted, loved.
We learn to seek security outside of ourselves.
So we begin to:
• Please
• Perform
• Control
• Hide
And yet, under all of that, we are still whole.
And returning to that wholeness doesn’t have to be terrifying.
It can be the most beautiful homecoming.
What if…
• What if we could learn to trust who we truly are?
• What if we could thank our protective layers and let them go?
• What if we removed the masks with love?
• What if we found our freedom, safety, and love within?
What if… you lived the most authentic version of yourself?
My work, my mission
That’s the promise I’ve made my life’s work.
I guide people back to their essence.
To remember who they are.
And to transform whatever blocks that, from the inside out.
For over 13 years now, I’ve been on this path myself.
Peeling back layer after layer.
Moving closer to my own truth.
And my wish for you and for everyone:
Unmask yourself.
Welcome whatever you find.
And shine as who you truly are.
You’ll be seen. Heard. Loved.
By yourself.
And by others who are on the same journey.
